Comparison of Different Road Marking Removers

As an important part of traffic construction, road markings have many roles like guiding the direction, separate ways, speed reminding, etc. If people want to renew the marking layout, or the old markings are so blurring that need replacement, the road marking removers will come in convenient.
There are kinds of marking removers classified by their working principles: polishing type, milling type, sand blasting type, steel brush type and so on. Each type has its own advantages and disadvantages. We will tell you the differences.
1. Polishing Road Marking Remover
Polishing road marking remover is powered by motor. The alloy grinding head rubs the road convex under fast rotation force to clean the lines off. It’s a traditional but wide used marking removing method, good for concrete road and asphalt road. The disadvantage is that it will hurt the road a little and can’t clean the paint deep in the road cracks.
2. Alloy Knife Road Marking Remover
The cutting rotor is the main working part of the alloy knife road marking remover, which consists of spindle, knife blocks, alloy knife and other components. The alloy knife directly contacts the road surface to get rid off the markings. Auto-balancing device is equipped to ensure the cutting depth keeps constant. And the milling part can be changed quickly to meet different width and depth.
3. Sandblasting Road Marking Remover
Sandblasting road marking remover is powered by air compressor, all the sand (glass beads, steel grit, steel sand, silica sand, emery sand, iron grits, etc) are shot to the road surface by the high speed jet. Sands with different particle sizes can deal with the deep road cracks, which makes it an ideal chose for concrete road and asphalt road. But the removing speed is relatively slow, especially with thick coatings, so it’s not suitable for large projects.
4. Steel Brush Road Marking Remover
This kinds of road marking remover can also be divided into three types: heating type, thixotropic type and reciprocating type. Heating type road marking remover firstly melts the oil paint, and then uses the steel brush to clean the melted paint. Similar to the heating type, the thixotropic type remover adopts the chemical thixotropic agent to separate the paint from road. The reciprocating remover is mainly used for removing the stubborn stains, especially the greasy dirt and paint inside the road cracks.
