Sedimentation problems of Thermoplastic Road Marking Paint in Construction Process
Thermoplastic road marking paint has been the most widely used road marking paint in our country for decades of years. Good thermoplastic road marking paint shouldn’t only be friendly to the drivers, but also to the construction teams. Besides, it should have excellent reflection effect, nice colors and durability.
If your paint keeps bad fluidity after long time heating in the road marking pre-heater, or the leveling of your markings is disappointed with pits and grits, and it’s getting worse if the heating goes longer. Sometimes there is a smell and pungent smoke emitting from the pre-heater, you can even hear the slight explosion once a while. Quartz sand and aggregates subside in the pre-heater, making it hard to get them out. In response to these phenomena, we will give you the following analyses.
Reason for bad fluidity: the resin is equivalent to "solvent" in the melting point if the resin is too little, it means the "solvent" is not enough to drive material to flow, regardless how high the temperature is. It will also bring the pits and grits.
Reason for bad smell and explosion: the resin has higher caloric receptivity than other filler materials, so it can control the rate of temperature increase. But less resin will make the temperature goes up so rapidly that some of the organics will decompose and turn into irritant smoke. Once the smoke reaches a certain amount, it will cause an explosion in the pre-heater.
Reason for subsidence: the molten resin acts like the frame that supports the melting system when the frame is not strong enough, the filling material can not be uniformly distributed which will easily cause the subsidence.
Considering all these factors, the main reason for the problems is lacking organic content and resin. So just ensure that the resin content in the paint is more than a required amount, you can avoid all these problems.
